Leading the Way in Responsible Seafood
Through our Environmental and Social Governance program, BSF partners with leading conservation organizations including the World Wildlife Fund, The Nature Conservancy, and Monterey Bay Aquarium on fishery improvement projects that address critical issues like environmental impact, fish stock health, and bycatch reduction. We also collaborate with groups like the Seafood Task Force and Issara Institute to tackle complex challenges around social welfare and illegal fishing practices.
Advancing Responsible Sourcing Through Strategic Initiatives
BSF collaborates with various NGOs on supply chain initiatives and capacity-building projects as part of our Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) program. Many of our projects involve working pre-competitively with globally recognized organizations like Sustainable Fisheries Partnership, World Wildlife Fund, CeDePesca, The Nature Conservancy, and Monterey Bay Aquarium. These Fishery Improvement Projects (FIPs) address environmental impact, fish stock assessments, bycatch mitigation, and better understanding of Endangered, Threatened, and Protected (ETP) species. We also work with groups such as the Seafood Task Force and Issara Institute to manage more complex issues like social welfare and Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing concerns.
Traceability: The Backbone for Responsible Sourcing
At BSF, we’re leading the way in seafood traceability by embracing global standards, investing in solutions to gather “first mile” data, capacity building with our supply chain, and enhancing internal systems to manage and pass forward key data elements to our customers.

Upholding Ethical Supply Chains and Human Rights
We are unwavering in our commitment to ethical sourcing and supply chain integrity. Through rigorous oversight, proactive supplier engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives, we have established robust safeguards to prevent forced labor from entering our supply chain. Our approach reflects our dedication to responsible business practices and respect for human rights at every stage of production.
